As part of its ‘Vintage British Summer’ offers, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s exclusive, new chauffeur service to travel to the magnificent Highclere Castle, one of England’s most beautiful Victorian castles and the film location for the highly acclaimed television series, Downtown Abbey.
Those that want a true Downtown Abbey experience can choose the Rolls Royce that recently appeared in the series, while other may wish to travel in the Queen Mothers’ favourite car ‘The Ivy Baroness’. Fans of The Italian Job can opt for ‘The Grand Princess’, the Daimler used to collect Michael Caine’s character from prison in the film.
There is no doubt that you will be arriving at Highclere Castle in style, fans of the series will be able to explore this historic castle, home to Carnarvon family since 1679, and stroll around its beautifully landscaped gardens before taking in the Egyptian Exhibition highlighting the achievements of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon who famously discovered the Tomb of the Egyptian Boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamen, in 1922.
Guests can relax at the Donovan Bar with a ‘Timeless’ cocktail – a drink composed of Chase Elderflower Liqueur mixed with William Chase Gin and topped up with English Sparkling Wine, created especially for the hotel’s 175th anniversary- upon returning to Brown’s Hotel. Others may wish to retreat to their luxurious suite.
