University College London (UCL) is a public university specializing in research. It is the and the biggest and oldest member college of the federal University of London. Established in 1826, University College London was the first university founded in London and also first in England to espouse secularity, to enroll students regardless of their religion and to give its female students the same rights as its male students. UCL is divided into ten member faculties and within each of these there are about 100 departments, institutes and research centres. The principal campus is situated in the Bloomsbury area of central London, with a few teaching hospitals and institutes scattered elsewhere around the centre of London. UCL has a campus in Doha, Qatar that specializes in conservation, museum studies and archaeology. The UCL School of Energy and Resources is located in Adelaide, Australia.
