Queen Mary, University of London (also known as Queen Mary, QMUL or QM) is a public university specializing in research and is a member institution of the University of London. With origins stretching back over 320 years, Queen Mary was established via a conglomeration of 4 universities, and since 1915 has expanded to become one of the biggest colleges in the University of London.

The main campus of Queen Mary's is situated in Mile End in London's East End, with various facilities in Holborn, Smithfield and Whitechapel. There are an estimated 16,000 full-time students as well as 3,000 staff. Queen Mary's total income was roughly £300 million in the college year 2010/11, Queen Mary is divided up into 3 faculties – the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Professional service departments – which in turn contain twenty one academic departments and institutes.

Queen Mary came eleventh in The Guardian's 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, and rated thirteenth by Times Higher Education out of a total of 132 universities and colleges that were assessed. In Times Higher Education World University Rankings, QM came in at number thirty five in Europe, and 120 worldwide. In the 2011 Guardian University Guide, the QM School of Law was rated third in the United Kingdom. Queen Mary's alumni includes 5 Nobel Laureates amongst its alumni as well as current and former staff.

During the World War II, Queen Mary College was moved to Cambridge, where it shared facilities with King's College. Meanwhile the Mile End site was used for the War effort and was for some time was used as the Municipal Offices of Stepney Borough Council.
