The museum has a collection of over 70 million artefacts and specimen and is an ideal place for those interested in life on earth both prehistoric and current. Four colour coded zones each focus on a specific aspect of life on earth.

Highlights of the museum are spectacular large-scale exhibits including dinosaur skeletons which are one of the museum's biggest attractions. There are a number of life-sized models in the Dinosaur hall and a hall dedicated to large mammals, including a huge model of a blue whale and several elephants. Other halls feature exhibitions on reptiles, fish, birds, 'creepy crawlies', and ecology.

Another zone of the museum focuses on geology where you can see the earth as if from outer space and a replicated earthquake and volcanic eruption. There is a large collection of minerals and stones.

The museum shop stocks souvenirs from fossil replicas to unique mineral pieces and also has a wide variety of child-friendly products.

The restaurant has a comprehensive menu, with selections of vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free food, with a kids menu. You can also eat at the deli café, the central hall café or the picnic area.
