Jermyn Street

City of Westminster, London SW1

Jermyn Street, located adjacent to Piccadilly in Central London is synonymous with gentlemen’s tailored clothing and even more specifically shirt-makers. The street is also known for its old fashioned shops, shoe and boot-makers and cigar shop.
Jermyn Street is named after Henry Jermyn, Earl of St. Albans, who in 1664 obtained a grant from King Charles II to develop a residential neighbourhood in the area known as St James's Field.
In its early days, the street remained more residential than commercial. Inevitably there have been changes in the architecture over the years. Old houses converted into shops and some facades modernized. However, much of the original essence of Jermyn Street lingers on and it still provides a quintessentially British experience.
