Museum
The British Museum is known to be the oldest public museum in the
world, having been established over 250 years ago in 1753. It is considered to
be one of the finest museums worldwide for human history and culture. The
museum has a permanent collection of eight million treasures originating from
all continents that illustrate the way human culture has shaped over the years
from the beginning of our existence, to the present day. Some of the museum's
more popular exhibits include the Egyptian Mummies, the Rosetta Stone and the
Lewis Chessmen.
The museum shop stocks a wide range of products from books to
clothes and accessories. Reserve your table at the Court restaurant, with its
spectacular glass roof or visit one of the Court cafés in the north-east and
north-west corners of the Great Court or the Gallery café is a great family friendly
place to enjoy your lunch.
