We had the opportunity to meet with Agonist Perfumes that are based at Avery Perfumery in Mayfair. Christine and Niclas spoke to us about their passion, the perfumes and London!

When was your first encounter with the art of perfumery?

When Christine and I first met we went on a journey around France. Christine is half french and I wanted to really understand and fully experience the countries rich culture of food, art and fashion with Christine as a ciceron. Once there we discovered our mutual dream of working artistically with fragrance. We tracked down independent perfumers and learned more about the complex and beautiful process behind the development of a high quality fragrance. This was the starting point for AGONIST.

What are your favourite scents?

Within our own line it is Dark Saphir, ISIS and our new scent SOLARIS.

What is your advice to someone buying perfume as a gift?

Our advice would be to buy something unique and dreamy. The AGONIST line is composed as an invisible wardrobe of 9 fragrances connecting to different situations, moods, emotions and moments that enhances the person wearing them.

What scents do you advise for London weather?

Something comforting and embracing that also captures the room and passers by. Like ISIS or Onyx Pearl.

Your favourite London spots? And what is your advice to a first time visitor to London?

We always visit Tate Modern, shop at Dover Street Market and Libertys, and eat as often and diverse as possible.
