May Day Fete at The Book Club takes place in Shoreditch high street on Sunday 5th May. Celebrate the warmer temperatures at this fun filled event. There will be various things on offer including unique foodie treats, eccentric games and live music galore to name just a few things on offer, so why not bring your whole family to a great day out.

The event will welcome in a traditional village fete into its midst, with bunting, ribbons, Maypoles and fortune tellers all promising to lighten up your day. This event expects to see hundreds of people flocking through the streets soaking up the warm spring weather and all the eccentricity that the day has to offer.

The event will see a huge amount of entertainment, such as London’s cosmopolitan Morris Dancers and a bandstand that will see a fabulous folk singers take to the stage. Also, bands such as The John Langan Band, The Bonfire Band, The Elasticated Waste Band and the Cash Cows will all be performing live while you have fun playing games, dancing and eating food.

Food provided by The Foragers, an interesting mobile food company that serves up wild grown and caught food, will be available at the event. Why not try some true natural delicacies, such as a Venison burger with hedge garlic mayonnaise, wild pigeon pasties or a vegetable roll with nettles, dandelion and goats cheese. The day would not be complete without a round of delicious beverages, and there will be a Cider festival taking place to provide just that.

Women will have to make sure they don their prettiest looking frocks and hats in order to be in with a chance of being crowned May Queen this year, and everyone else is encouraged to dress up eccentrically for a chance to win a prize.

While you’re enjoying all this fair has to offer, keep an eye out for some interesting characters, such as the village idiot, Jack O Green and the town crier to name a few.
