The Regents Park Open Air Theatre 2013 runs from Thursday 16th May - Saturday 7th September 2013. At the theatre Londoners have an opportunity to enjoy exciting new shows whilst making the most of the weather. With a vast variety of productions taking place at this unique London venue there’s every reason to head outside for some fresh air and theatre fun.
The event has been open annually since 1932, marking 80 years of live theatre in one of London’s most beautiful and well-known parks. The stage is presented in a natural outdoor setting, promising a refreshing theatre experience in the sun. Famous for holding a wide variety of shows, from classic Elizabethan drama to contemporary stand up comedy, the theatre promises a great show for 2013 with spectacular shows such as To Kill a Mockingbird, and a production of Jane Austin's popular story, Pride and Predjudice.
Many productions staged are suitable for children and family audiences so both audience members old and young can enjoy live theatre in the park's amphitheatre for a unique alternative to traditional nights out in the West End.
The 2013 season includes a special staging of A A Winter's Tale, one of William Shakespeare's most enduringly popular plays. Head to Regents Park and follow the life of a young princess and her secret love for a prince that takes her on a fantastic adventure. This story has been reimagined for children over 6 years old, introducing the next generation to the wonderful world of Shakespere.
There is certainly no better way to beat the heat than catching a show at the outdoor theatre. Whether you like musicals, Shakespearean dramas or plays for kids, there'll be loads of shows to catch. This year's open air season carries on the historic tradition of the open air theatre in the park.
