This year, The Royal Windsor Horse Show takes place from 8th – 12th May in Windsor Castle. 2013 marks the 70th anniversary of the spectacular show, as it was started in 1943 to raise money for the war effort.

The show promises a wonderful mix of International Carriage Driving, Showing, Equestrian Displays and first class Jumping. There are classes for the grass roots competitor right through to top international riders.

Set in the beautiful private grounds of Windsor Castle the show is patronised by Her Majesty The Queen with the Show President being His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh who still takes an active part in the event.

Some highlights of the event will include displays of The Musical Ride of The Household Cavalry, A Bahrain Arab Horse Display, and The Musical Drive of The Kings Troop RHA, they can be seen alongside old favourites such as The DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games and The Shetland Pony Grand National.

There is also an excellent variety of food and drink options around the showground. Choose from the Members Restaurant where you can have a two course lunch, the Copper Horse Restaurant, or the Members Enclosure or you simply might enjoy a visit to the food courts dotted around the show-grounds while sampling hot and cold food from around the World. There are also coffee bars and refreshment units throughout the location.
