Puppets on Film Festival takes place at Little Angel Theatre and Screen on the Green, Islington from Friday 12th April – 14th April 2013. You and your kids can enjoy a weekend of puppet-centered movies where audiences can take part in question and answer sessions with film makers and puppeteers, including a special guest appearance from Heather Henson, the daughter of Muppet creator Jim Henson.
The show will offer children a diverse range of film classics, from the light-hearted antics of the Muppet Movie to the mysterious fantasy world of The Dark Crystal. Children can also learn about how films and puppets are made from the documentary Being Elmo: A Puppeteers Journey, which takes audiences behind the scenes of Sesame Street and the Jim Henson Workshop.
Children aren't the only ones who will be able to enjoy the Puppets on Film Festival, some events are designed for adults only, such as the Puppeteer Stories, where you can watch three short documentaries about puppeteers in different countries. You can also enjoy the Puppet Shorts night, in which puppet lovers can submit their own short films to compete for the best film award.
The range of special guests at the Puppets on Film Festival is sure to peak your interest. As well as Heather Henson, you will also be able to attend talks with her sister Cheryl Henson and artist Brian Froud as they discuss the creative work behind The Dark Crystal as well as many other post film talks during the weekend.
