Rapunzel at Sadlers Wells takes place from Friday 29th – Saturday 30th March 2013. Written by the Poet Laureate herself, Carol Anne Duffy, this fantastic Ballet has been designed to entertain all ages.
By tradition, the German fairy story tells a tale of a woman trapped in a tower by an evil witch and visited by a handsome prince, she is rescued by the prince and lives happily ever after. Rapunzel at Sadlers Wells looks at the deeper side of this plot, such as showing the distress of the parents forced to give up their child to a witch.
The show promises to dazzle audiences with its beauty and splendour, and with costumes designed by Michele Clapton, the woman behind the stunning costumes in the popular Game of Thrones series, it’s not hard to see why. The production has also been choreographed by the highly acclaimed, Liv Lorent and is performed with the skills of her exemplary company, BalletLORENT.
This incredibly unique ballet adaptation promises to be a visually stunning and engaging piece of theatre. Written by the literary genius that is Carol Anne Duffy, you can expect it to be a well told tale that won’t leave you disappointed. The show is part of the annual Family Weekend festival, where there will be plenty of things to see and do all over the building, before and after the main show, so make sure you don’t miss out!
