The London 2012 Summer Paralympic Games will be the fifteenth Paralympics and will take place between 29th August and 9th September 2012. The 2012 Paralympic Games promises to be the biggest Paralympic Games ever, featuring 4200 athletes from 160 countries who will compete in 20 sports. Features of the opening ceremony include the raising of the Paralympic and host nation's flags, a parade by all of the athletes taking part in the Games and the lighting of the Paralympic Flame.
Award-winning film director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) heads the team of four talented individuals running the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. LOCOG’s (The London 2012 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games) vision for the Games is that rather than making them different from previous Paralympics, they want to take the best aspects of previous Games and bring them together.
On 9 September 2010 tickets for the Paralympic Games went on sale. In the first three week ticket window more than 1 million tickets were sold, a record for the Paralympic Games. Already a number of sports are sold-out.
