The Dorchester Hotel in London has unveiled 22 new suites which reflect the character and eclecticism of the English spirit. The redesign of the suites is the latest in a series of recent renovations and centres on the hotel’s classic English residential style, fusing contemporary comfort with the timeless glamour and heritage of the world-renowned British property. Constantly evolving and investing in redecoration.

Interior designer, Alexandra Champalimaud redesigned the 22 suites and commenting on the project with President and Principal Designer of Champalimaud, said: “I have always been fascinated by the way English people live in their homes and wanted to capture that certain quirkiness found in beautiful English properties, whilst building on the history and quintessentially British nature of The Dorchester. Each suite will feature an eclectic array of furnishings, inspired by a cosmopolitan collection of influences echoing the British fondness for filling homes with mementos from a lifetime of travel. Exceptionally talented local craftsmen from a variety of British firms, such as Colefax & Fowler and GP & J Baker, have been commissioned to create furniture, mirrors, art and textiles for the suites, continuing Dorchester Collection’s tradition of supporting local creativity and grand artisanal skills.

The Dorchester Suites will offer large marble lobbies, opening into spacious living rooms with open limestone fireplaces, dining rooms seating up to eight guests and three well-appointed bedrooms with commanding views over the London skyline. The striking views over Hyde Park from The Park Suites will be enhanced by the design, where previously dark furnishings are peeled back to reveal a light freshness allowing the natural beauty and tranquillity of Royal parkland to radiate throughout. Both suite styles include remodelled bathrooms with separate stall showers, large drench shower heads and bath tubs as well as the highest level of in-room technology.

Roland Fasel, the UK Regional Director for Dorchester Collection, commented “We are delighted to be working with Alexandra Champalimaud once again to ensure that the highest levels of hospitality in London, alongside The Dorchester’s tradition of eclectic luxury, are maintained for guests in such an exciting year for London and Great Britain.”
