Go far behind the lines of animated film and discover a world that's far from childish at The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) is a spectacular showcase of creative animation taking place throughout London with gala premieres, Q&As, workshops and the Best of the Festival screening.
The London International Animation Festival is an extremely popular and accessible festival that screens a very broad range of animated films over a 10-day period. Having been founded in 2003, the festival shows the huge potential of the medium and also aims to dispel the myth that animation is little more than cartoons for children by screening a vast range of entertaining and provocative films from across the planet.
LIAF features the very best of the international indie animation scene, encapsulating every style, genre and technique that’s possible. The Gala Opening on 25th October kicks off the festival at the Barbican Screen with a very special screening of ‘For No Good Reason’, a new feature film from British artist, Ralph Steadman.
A highlight of this year's festival is the British Animation Showcase that allows the audience to view the best modern shorts from the UK, which are never usually seen on the big screen, but the festival organisers also present a new Filpbook Challenge, and will be holding a Flipbook Workshop on Saturday 27th October. The 11-day festival finishes on 4th November, make sure not to miss out!
