London's Firework Displays

Following such a brilliant year of fireworks in 2011 we're hoping Bonfire Night 2012 goes off with as much of a bang! Be sure to remember to celebrate November 5 in serious style at the Bonfire Night in London, where a spectacular selection of London Fireworks Displays are taking place throughout the capital to mark the occasion in traditional style.

Bonfire Night is also known as Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night, and is an old British tradition dating back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Catholic conspirator Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James I. To this day, it is customary for the cellars in the Houses of Parliament to be searched by the Yeoman of the Guard before each State Opening of Parliament. The anniversary of Fawkes' arrest is celebrated each year with fireworks and bonfires. Sometimes, effigies of Guy Fawkes ("the guy") are burned on top of the bonfires.

With such a large range of London fireworks displays taking place throughout the city there are plenty of options as to where to celebrate Bonfire Night this year. Londoners of all ages can expect a lively night out with some serious firework action on the cards. But, if you can’t make it out for a fireworks display during bonfire night weekend, don’t worry!  A number of displays will be held before and after the weekend, which gives you the chance to enjoy a spectacular show at your convenience.

Start planning where to catch some impressive fireworks this year and see in Bonfire Night with a bang.
