Bond Street

City of Westminster, London W1C

Located in West London at the heart of Mayfair, Bond Street is esteemed throughout the world for its wealth of elegant boutiques, exclusive brands, designer fashion, fine jewellery as well as fine art and antique dealers.
Bond Street takes its name from Sir Thomas Bond. Sir Bond was the head of a syndicate of developers who purchased a Piccadilly mansion called Clarendon House from the Duke of Albermarle in the late 16th Century. The house was demolished and development of the area got underway. Nearby Dover Street and Albermarle Street were also built at the time. Due to the development of various estates in Mayfair at the time, the building moved predominantly from south to north, which is why the southern part of the street is named ‘Old’ Bond Street and the northern half ‘New’ Bond Street which was added as London continued to grow.
Past residents of Bond Street include dignitaries as well as a number of renowned authors and poets. Today, Bond Street remains a highly sought after destination for famous personalities and the international jet set.
