The Maslenitsa Russian Festival London event takes place at Trafalgar Square on Saturday 16th March 2013, celebrating Russian culture in London in an eclectic free event.

This fabulous festival brings authentic Russian culture to London in a unique cultural event, now being held for the fifth consecutive year. The festival falls near Lent and traditional springtime celebrations will feature throughout, including music, dancing and plenty of blinis.

There will be a whole host of fantastic entertainment at the festival with children's activities and the chance to buy authentic Russian food and souvenirs at the cultural stalls. Maslenitsa is traditionally a week long, the Russian version of Shrove Tuesday, so prepare yourself and expect plenty of colourful entertainment in Trafalgar Square with an extensive range of Russian artists and performers that will bring both historic and contemporary entertainment to Trafalgar Square during the festival. Highlights include live music from rock groups, opera singers, dancers and folk jazz artists.

The special children’s area will give younger visitors the chance to play games, watch theatre performances and enter competitions. Authentic Russian food and drink will also be available at the festival, offering the chance to sample a taste of Russia. Families can make the most of a fun day out in London whilst celebrating a rich and diverse culture.
