This October why not celebrate the harvest with marching bands and the Pearly Kings and Queens in their spangly 'Smother Suits' which are covered in hundreds of pearl buttons.

The tradition began in the 19th century by Henry Croft, an orphan who worked as a street sweeper in Somers Town, London and today, after 125 years, there are still many Pearly Kings and Queens who carry on Henry Croft's charitable aims.

The Pearly Kings and Queens of London are a charming and unforgettable sight. At this festival, which celebrates the bounty of the autumn harvest, they will be staging traditional entertainment beginning at 1pm at the Guildhall Yard on the 2nd October, before a parade to St Mary-le-Bow church for a harvest festival service at 3pm, all of the harvest festival offerings are donated to the Whitechapel Mission.

You will be truly blown away by this magical event, make sure you don’t miss it!
