Paula McColgan is the Director of Sales and Marketing for The Lanesborough Hotel in London, a beautiful location in Knightsbridge. The hotel's warm and exclusive environment makes it one of a kind in London.

We asked Paula a few questions about her experiences so far and some insider tips for your next visit!

What attracted you to working in hospitality?
I have always been passionate about travel, with a deep-rooted love being installed from an early age as I was fortunate to travel extensively with my family. This sparked a fascination with the world of luxury hotels and led to an early position in hotel operations and a move to London.  This opened up an ideal opportunity as I was sponsored by Sarova Hotels to study with the Institute of Marketing and the rest, as they say, is history!

What makes The Lanesborough Hotel stand apart?
The Lanesborough Hotel is unique through the unparalleled level of professional yet discreet service it offers. Meticulous detail is paid to ensure every guest enjoys the most exclusive experience and their every care is seen to - no task is ever too large for The Lanesborough!

How would you describe Knightsbridge?
Knightsbridge is one of London’s most chic and exclusive areas which combines art, culture, haute couture, luxury boutiques and fine dining, as well as ultra-expensive residential property.  Perfectly placed in the City of Westminster, bordering Belgravia and alongside London’s largest park – Hyde Park – it provides the ultimate location. Famed department stores such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols make it one of the leading international luxury fashion destinations and a shopper’s paradise.

Your favourite dish at Apsleys?
It would have to be one of three Michelin starred Heinz Beck’s signature dishes – Carbonara Fagottelli.  Little parcels of the finest pasta which explode with an exquisite creamy sauce when pressed with your tongue against the roof of your mouth – divine! I am in good company with this being one of my favourites as it is one of Michelle Obama’s too!

Your advice to a first time visitor to The Lanesborough Hotel?
Take advantage of your Butler – they will do everything to ensure you have a wonderful stay…as long as it’s legal!  Relax and let the team at The Lanesborough take care of you and, of course, come back again soon!
