Waterloo Bridge
Street

Waterloo Bridge at 1,250 ft long and 80 ft wide is the longest bridge in London. Designed by John Rennie, this bridge situated between Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge is the third bridge to be built on the Thames in London. Waterloo Bridge is famous for its spectacular views: Westminster and London Eye, the City of London and Canary Wharf. The name of the bridge is in memory of the victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The South end of the Waterloo Bridge is in the area called The South Bank which includes also Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Royal National Theatre. Directly underneath the Waterloo Bridge, there are the National Film Theatre and the Museum of the Moving Image, the only museum with stalactites growing within it as a result of water leaking through the Bridge. Waterloo Bridge is Grade II listed structure by English Heritage since 1981.
