Wyndhams Theatre is one of two theatres opened by Charles Wyndham (next to Criterion Theatre). The Venue had its grand autumn opening in 1899 and could seat 759 patrons. The London theatre was designed by William Sprague, the same person that had previously designed the Aldwych Theatre and many other West End Theatres in his career. Today the Wyndham Theatre is perceived a theatrical gem. The interior of the hotel is in the Louis XVI style. The exterior of the building was built in classical style with Portland stone.

A treasured part of the West End, The Wyndham Theatre is located on Charing Cross Road, in the City of Westminster. Nearby London Underground stations include Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Charing Cross. In September 1960 this West End Theatre was listed a Grade II* theatre by English Heritage.

During these successful years of Wyndham’s, many of the best known names in British theatre appeared on its stage: Vanessa Redgrave, Alec Guinness, Eileen Atkins, Paul Scofield, Yasmina Reza, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, John Gielgud, Jeremy Irons, Jude Law, Sienna Miller and Ralph Richardson.

Some of the recent shows at Wyndham's Theatre include The Play what I Wrote by Richard Eyre, the 2002 Madonna’s West End debut who performed in a sell-out production of Up for Grabs, Madame de Sade with Judi Dench and Jude Law as Hamlet. Other dramatic productions were By The Bog Of Cats starring Holly Hunter and The Witches with Ruby Wax. The most controversial show was The Vagina Monologues which ran without the stars – Sharon and Aimee Osbourne who dropped out before the show opening.
