Vaudeville Theatre

404 Strand, London WC2R 0NH

The Vaudeville Theatre, a West End theatre is located on Strand, near to Covent Garden and Charing Cross in London’s West End.

The Vaudeville Theatre opened its doors in 1870 and has undergone re construction in 1882 by C.J Phipps and in 1926 by Robert Atkins where the Vaudeville Theatre was re built on both occasions, each building retaining elements of the original Theatre. The current Vaudeville Theatre opened its doors in 1926.

In the early days the Theatre held mainly vaudeville shows and musical revues. The first production to be held in The Vaudeville Theatre in London was a comedy For Love or Money by Andrew Halliday. Some of The Vaudeville Theatres success can be put down to the fact that the Vaudeville Theatre only had five owners since 1892, the Gatti family retained ownership until 1969, with Peter Saunders taking ownership of the Vaudeville Theatre in 1969, in 1983 Michael Codron had ownership of the theatre until Sir Stephen Waley - Cohen brought ownership of the Vaudeville Theatre in 1996. The Vaudeville Theatre is currently owned and operated by Nimax Theatres

In 1972 the Vaudeville Theatre in Westminster London, was listed as a Grade II Theatre. This West End Theatre has a seating capacity of 606.
