RSL London Zoo, located on the north east corner of London’s Regent Park, is the world's oldest scientific zoo opening on 27th April 1828. It was originally intended to be used as a collection for scientific study and eventually opened as a zoo to the public in 1847.

As well as being the first scientific zoo, ZSL London Zoo also opened the first Reptile house (1849), first public Aquarium (1853), first insect house (1881) and the first children's zoo (1938). Today London Zoo houses a collection of over 760 different species of animal.

With so much to see and do, a visit to ZSL London Zoo is the perfect day out for people of all ages.

An interactive and inspiring Zoo
London Zoo is actively involved in ‘bringing down the bars’ by creating interactive and inspiring exhibits. This has being achieved in recent years through new exhibits, such as Penguin Beach (England’s biggest penguin pool), Animal Adventure (children’s zoo), Giants of the Galapagos , Butterfly Paradise , Meet the Monkeys , Rainforest Life and Gorilla Kingdom. They all show how London Zoo creates realistic environments to house some of the world’s most impressive and inspiring animals.

Penguin Beach
There are p-p-plenty of penguins at ZSL London Zoo in the stunning new Penguin Beach exhibit – England’s biggest penguin pool. The Penguin Beach exhibits recreates a South American beach landscape in the heart of the city of London, with stunning colonies of over 100 Macaroni and Humboldt penguins.

Loads to see and do all day long
