50 Years of Doctor Who at BFI Southbank takes place at various times throughout the year, the next event takes place on Saturday 9th February 2013, with the another screening shown following on Sunday 10th March 2013. There will be screenings, discussions and maybe even some special guest appearances, making this event a definite must for fans of the series.

First aired by the BBC in 1963, Doctor Who focuses on the adventures of a strange humanoid alien who travels through space and time in his TARDIS, which resembles an old London telephone box. The Doctor’s battles with enemies, such as the infamous Daleks, are still popular today, making it one of the longest running sci-fi programmes ever.

Many of us grew up with these previous incarnations of the mysterious man from Gallifrey, and as such the programmes screened in the 50 Years of Doctor Who at BFI event are all suitable for children, so why not introduce your little ones to the world of Doctor Who? The screenings and discussions over the coming months will act as a countdown to the main celebrations in November 2013 which are yet to be announced.
