To celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Fortnum & Mason has officially opened the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at the famous Piccadilly store in London. Designed by David Collins, the Tea Salon pays homage to all things tea from the vast selection of tea blends to the elegant Georgian surroundings.

Fortnum’s has been famous since 1920's for its superb selection of tea and was defined by a menu featuring the finest teas, delicate sandwiches and exquisite cakes.

The fourth floor, which has today been transformed into the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon was originally home to the popular St. James’s Restaurant which was opened for the 250th anniversary of Fortnum & Mason in 1957, specialising in superb dining and fine afternoon tea.

An expansive tea menu comprising more than 150 varieties lies at the heart of what is on offer at the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, bringing to life the often overlooked process of tea brewing to ensure whichever blend is chosen is enjoyed at its very best.

Tea will arrive at each table with timers that will ring once your pot has reached its optimum brewing time. From brewing instructions to different temperature water depending on the blend of tea chosen, the Fortnum’s Tea experience is a treat for tea enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.

On March 1st 2012, with enormous joy and excitement, the refurbished St James’s Restaurant was opened by HM The Queen accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge, and renamed The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon.
