In more modern times, the Lingerie market has grown immensely and luxury brands such as Dote London and Olivia von Halle create specialised and seductive offerings that are made with soft materials such as silk, lace and satin. The femininity of Lingerie also shines through in film with icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and Elizabeth Taylor responsible for the huge increase in sales of glamorous nightwear in the mid 20th century, as well as numerous James Bond girls, that showed off the ideal body for most women.

London women also enjoy the practice of having lingerie parties where they invite friends over to try on high end lingerie that is sure to impress.
