We were delighted to chat with Jeremy Goring, the CEO of The Goring Hotel in Belgravia. As part of the family business, Jeremy shared with us his experience so far as well as some insider tips on what you should be doing during your visit to London!

How long ago did you get involved and what has kept you going since?

I've been at the hotel for 7 years and they have flown by! In previous jobs, I've been bored within 3 years but here we've reinvented the hotel refurbishing every square inch from scratch - it's been a new challenge every day.

5 words that describe The Goring?

Luxurious, Welcoming, Authentic and Quintessentially English

Your advice to a first time visitor to London?

Try and experience as much of the 'real London' as possible- take a walk through Hyde Park, spend an afternoon meandering through Harrods and most definitely book in to take Afternoon Tea with us at The Goring. In 2013 our Afternoon Tea won the British Tea Guild Award for the Best Afternoon Tea in London and is certainly a quintessentially English experience not to be missed.

What does your ideal day in London comprise of?

Start with full English breakfast at The Goring (do not scrimp on the black pudding!), walk it off in our enormous garden, take the dog for a walk in Richmond Park (there are oak trees that Henry VIII rode past which hunting deer and their descendants are still in the park today), take in some galleries - I think The Tate is the best or check out what's happening on the South Bank. Enjoy a big plate of fish and lobster at Randall & Aubin in Soho and walk to Graphic for cocktails in paint tins (or to the Experimental Cocktail Club).

What should a first time guest to the hotel expect?

Matron! She will visit your room and find out what your favourite pillow/shampoo/creature comfort is. More importantly you will receive a genuine, warm welcome.

What's new for 2014?

This year we're delighted to be working with one of the UK's top milliners, Gina Foster. Gina was inspired by the quintessentially English design and décor used throughout the hotel and has created a five-piece collection reflecting the spirit and feel of The Goring. The Goring Gina Foster collection will be available to purchase in time for The Season and will also be joined by the launch of our brand new Afternoon Tea which will also celebrate all that is great about the British summer and season. From mid-May 2014, guests can enjoy an Afternoon Tea with cakes reflecting Wimbledon Tennis,Chelsea Flower Show and of course, a Gina Foster hat at The Races.

We are sure you are tempted for an Afternoon Tea, to learn more please visit The Goring
